It's Your Challenge
Your Way!

High quality endurance style events to take on at your pace, for a wide range of fitness levels, ages & experience. For teams & individuals; for a charity of your choice, OR just do it for yourself and achieve something special.  No obstacles or mud pools, just wonderful British countryside; full support all the way; lots of food & drink; camaraderie – and your spirit & determination.  With 16 events, 4 distance options, a few ‘trail marathons’, a dozen 10 km ‘tasters’, and a new Ultra March™ category – there’s an Ultra Challenge® for EVERYONE!

Your Challenge – Your Way!

Most Walk; many ‘Jog’ so may run a bit – walk a bit, and see how it goes, and at the front ‘Runners’ may be stepping up from a marathon, testing themselves against the clock, or just new to trail running.

Ultra Challenges are for ALL. In 2023, on 50km & 100km ‘Ultra’ distances, 51% were female – and we had ALL ages and a wide range of experience & fitness levels.

New ULTRA MARCH™ category for walkers with a clear goal of completing 100 km in less than 24 hours (or 50 km < 12 hrs).

A ‘continuous’ 100km full Ultra Challenge is quite tough, but is absolutely achievable with good preparation, our support teams & rest stops stocked with plenty of food & drink.

OR – there’s a 2 Day 100 km ‘Daylight’ option with halfway camping as a great alternative.

New for 2024 are ~75km  3/4 Challenge options on some events.

There’s also a fantastic range of testing single day ~50km ‘Half’ challenges, scenic ~25km ‘Quarter’ challenges, a few ‘trail Marathons’ (42 km) – and a range of 10 km ‘Taster’ events.

Young Persons Discount – if aged 21 or less (subject to min. age rules / distance).

We have a Series of a dozen or so 10 km /10 mile events throughout the season at the main Ultra Challenge venues.

Ideal as a ‘taster’ event – or if you just want a shorter challenge – or to take on whilst your partner or  family member is taking on a longer Ultra Challenge.

10 KM / MILE SERIES >>

It only takes 2 to make a TEAM – but the more the merrier! A Team of friends or family can motivate & support each other, whilst sharing an unforgettable adventure with a great reason to celebrate! Teams can do the same, or a mix of distances, and sign up with the same or a mix of funding options.

INDIVIDUALS / SOLO CHALLENGERS will feel 100% welcome & safe – will meet many new friends enroute, and our experienced Support Teams looks after everyone!

Many choose to FUNDRAISE for a charity of their choice, and with 500+ to choose from you’ll be amazed how much you can raise on a ‘tough’ challenge – as friends & family will recognise & support your courageous endeavours!

The Ultra Challenge® Series raises £7+ million / year for charities. Choose your charity; set up a JustGiving sponsorship page – and make your challenge count!

Others just want a great personal or team challenge – SELF FUND their places – and achieve something very special by pushing themselves further!

CHARITIES INVOLVED >>

There’s best value ‘MULTI DEALS’ for 3 or more Self Fund events – with up to 25% OFF!

We want to encourage the YOUNG’ to join – so there’s 20% OFF Self Fund prices for those aged 21 or less (subject to event distance min. age rules: – ie 18 for ~100km & 75km / 16 for ~50km / 14 for ~25km & marathon / 12 for 1/2 marathon / 8 for 10km). Under 18’s need to be accompanies by an adult participant.

Runners – if you have ambitions of competing in the famous ‘Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc’ event – an Ultra Challenge® is perfect to clock up ‘qualifying points’.

Full Challenges (~100 km) have 3 or 4 points available & Half Challenges (~50 km) from 1 – 3 points.

Full Support

An Ultra Challenge® is a special journey. Our unmatched levels of support enables so many to ‘Push Themselves Further’. We’ll help you prepare with a Challenge App, training guides & forums. On the day – there are camping options, shuttle busses, a warm up & noisy send off, a fully signed route, chip timing, marquee rest stops, fantastic food & drink included, and expert safety, medical & welfare teams. A big finish line cheer, with a medal, a glass of fizz, a souvenir T shirt, a massage, a finishers meal – and it’s a special weekend to remember!

Download our Ultra Challenge® App once you’ve signed up – with guides, optional extras, the latest updates prior to each Challenge – with the final details.

Our lively Facebook forum is great for advice & meeting fellow Challengers.

If you’re fundraising, your charity sends a support pack & their contact details.

Experienced Challengers help develop our training guides & videos, on – foot care, nutrition, hydration, & building distance up for all levels of experience.

We also run a few optional training walks – and for runners, bookable sessions with an Ultra coach.

There are bookable coach transfers, shuttle busses, & parking options before & after your challenge to make travel planning easier.

Most Events offer camping packages at the ~50km Saturday ‘half way’ for the 2 day ‘Daylight’ 100 km challenge option (or for a ‘half’ challenge) and at the main start venue for Friday night before the event.

Pink arrows, and glow-sticks at night, mark the route, and with Google route maps in the App – you won’t get lost on an Ultra Challenge®!

Our chip timing scans you at rest stops, with your progress tracked, and can be shared online. If you want ‘real time tracking‘ to share with family & friends – there’s a Geo Tracker hire service.

Our rest stops are the BEST! Covered stops every ~12.5 km or so, and major ones each ~25 km – all with seating, clean toilets, medical services, & shuttle busses. There’s a range of snacks & drinks at all stops, with full meals at the ‘major’ ones and the finish, all included in your entry fee.

Ultra Challenge® rest stops will help you get to that finish line!

Rest stops have expert teams supplied by TrailMed, our official medical partner  – with doctors, paramedics, first aiders, & podiatrists – and massage services provided alongside.

There are emergency response teams with 4×4’s, safety marshals & experienced ‘Trek Masters‘ on the route – with a 24 hr Control Room monitoring all aspects of the event just a phone call away.

An Ultra Challenge® finish line is a celebration, and quite emotional for many after a tough journey!

You’ll get a big cheer, a quality medal, a glass of fizz to toast your success, a visit to the massage tent, and a finishers meal.

Memories will be long lasting – maybe personal goals redefined – and always a great sense of achievement that, once aches & pains subside, will leave you wanting another challenge!

100km in under 24 hrs or 50km in 12 hrs.

Ultra Challengers – do you have what it takes to pit yourself against the Ultra Clock?  ULTRA MARCH™ is a NEW category in existing Ultra Challenge® events to Push Yourself Further!

Of course many who run & jog crack the 24 hr/100km pace in droves on Ultra Challenge events. However, an Ultra March™ is about WALKING at a brisk & consistent pace with other like minded challengers – a bit like a march – and still taking in the great rest stops & services of an Ultra Challenge!

  • Participants opt in to the Ultra March™ category within an event.
  • Up to 300 will set off together as a big Ultra March™ group.
  • Single Start Time is generally ‘last off’ – typically 9.30 – 10.00am Saturday.
  • FREE Ultra March™ T shirt & headband at registration to look the part!
  • Ultra March™ ‘Pacers’ set the min. pace (with ‘sensible’ rest stop time).
  • Special Finishers Medal & Certificate .

The new Ultra March™ category will be in 11 of the 2024 Ultra Challenge® events – starting end of May:

  • Lake District (8 June – 100km & 50km)
  • Cotswold Way (22 June – 100km & 50km)
