SUMMER WALK

Sat 24 August - Registration Open

Historic Thames Gateway

25 km or 10 km Looped Route

Woolwich Barracks Start / Finish

Excellent Transport Connections

BBQ, bar & music at finish

As a Team or Individual

Make it an active Bank Holiday Weekend...

Get active & explore some of the Capital’s less known historic areas with a tour of the ‘gateway to London’ along the Thames’s eastern section. Starting alongside the grandeur of Woolwich Royal Artillery Barracks (short walk from Elizabeth Line station!) – our main 25 km looped route heads down to the Thames, through the Woolwich Tunnel and into Docklands. It’s back under the River via the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, past the Cutty Sark and a rest stop at the Old Naval College. Then along the Thames to the Greenwich Peninsular, past the O2, past the Thames Barrier, through Charlton, and back up to basecamp in Woolwich.  A route steeped in history with iconic sights, and capped with a BBQ, bar & music at the finish – making for a wonderful end of summer celebration!

Once you’re signed up, there’s a mobile phone App to download –  with all the key information, maps, & details of the walk at your finger tips. There’s also a very active Facebook Group to share your preparation and winter journey with others.

Coloured arrows mark the routes, with distance markers, and a map in the App just in case. Our ‘Trek Masters’ are out & about to provide support, with a chip timing system enabling the Control Room (and friends / family) to monitor your start & finish times. We have medics the rest stop venues to deal with any aches / pains or blisters.

Coffee, tea & biscuits at the start

  • Rest stop en-route midway, with a full range of free snacks & drinks
  • Free BBQ back at the Woolwich finish line for all finishers
  • All dietary requirements catered for

You’ll get a souvenir Summer walk neck buff at the start – and a big cheer as you cross the finish line with a well earned commemorative Summer Walk medal. Challenge certificates can be downloaded via the App.
