UPDATED - MONDAY 22 JUNE
Re Aug & Sept Events.
As you are all aware - The Government introduced Covid-19 related restrictions, and this, combined with the fact that many of our medical staff are also in front-line NHS roles, meant that all Ultra Challenge events that were due to take place until the end of July were cancelled or postponed. Details of these are set out below - so please see what options exist for you - if you were signed up to one.
From late August into September - with the South Coast, Thames Path, Thames Bridges, Jurassic Coast (re-scheduled from May), and the Chiltern Challenges - it is our intention to run these events if possible. However, depending upon what is announced by 'Government' (and when), it is clear that getting a 'green light' to run a specific event from the Local Councils, key land owners, and other parties involved will remain a challenge, as their interpretation will be subject to local concerns, risks, and no doubt other pressures.
We are acutely aware that our participants have to plan their travel, accommodation, training schedules, and meet fundraising deadlines, and we'll endeavour to strike the right balance of giving sufficient time for the Government to announce possible easing of Covid-19 related restrictions (with the increased likelihood of the 'green light' from Local Councils etc) - but also recognising that we can't keep our participants, charities, suppliers, venues, and medical teams 'hanging on' for too long without a firm decision.
We will therefore make that decision - based on the facts available - no later than 6 1/2 weeks prior to each of these events. If we get a definite 'no', or 'yes', prior to that - we would let participants know.
We have a strong and exciting series of Ultra Challenges for 2021 - and we will be going 'live' for sign-ups in mid-July, so look out for some very special deals - and a new website!
Meanwhile - we have our series of virtual events, that over 8,000 have taken part in so far - with the new 'Great British Ultra Challenge (virtual)' running throughout July - so why not join us, get fit, and share your challenge online!
