2018 Training Runs

Which training run is for you...

One of the best ways to get ready for the challenge, is by taking part in one or more of our organised training runs. Get the 'feel' for the challenge ahead and build up that base level of fitness!

We have partnered with Running Adventures to host these runs. They will be led by experienced ultra runner, ultra running coach, trail running guide, and Salomon athlete; Matt Buck. These guided trail runs are an excellent opportunity to get advice on training, equipment and nutrition - as well as meeting like-minded 'action challengers'.

Routes along the Thames Path, North Downs, South Downs and The Ridgeway are available. With distances ranging from 20-30km - these guided runs are a great way to learn from an expert, enjoy some stunning trails, and get all your questions answered.

This is not a race! We will run as a group and share this experience together. You should be able to run 11 min/miles on the road, and have a good level of fitness.

DATES/LOCATIONS

Ridgeway - 25km

This 25km run starts in Goring and briefly follows the Thames Path before heading up to the Ridgeway. We will enjoy this route as a group, working on our fitness, as well as discussing ultra running techniques and strategies.  

 

Date: Saturday 14th April - 25km

Thames Path - 30km

On the 21st July, the 30km run starts in Putney and follows the Thames Path to Hampton Court, before finishing with a run through Bushy Park to Hampton Wick.

  • Saturday 21st July - 30km

  • Start: Putney Bridge 
  • Finish: Hampton Wick 
  • Teas / coffees & biscuits at the finish

North Downs - 30km

This run starts and finishes in Guildford, just a short walk from the train station and numerous car parks. We will explore some local trails as a group, including the North Downs Way and St Martha’s Hill. 

 

Date: Saturday 19th May - 30km

 

On the Day info:

  • Start Time : 9am
  • Start/Finsih: Millmead, Guildford 
  • Teas / coffees & biscuits at the finish

South Downs - 25km & 30km

Both runs start and finish at Devil’s Dyke on the South Downs, near Brighton. We will explore some local trails along the South Downs Way and Sussex Border Path as a group, working on our fitness, as well as discussing ultra running techniques and strategies.
