Challenge Options

The Peak District Challenge starts and finishes at our basecamp hub in Bakewell. The Full 100km route takes a northern loop of the surrounding area – known for it’s outstanding natural beauty before returning back to basecamp, marking the end of the challenge for some. Those on the Full 100km and 2nd Half will then head out on a southern looped route exploring more of this wonderful area. We’ve camping all weekend for you and your supporters – and with food choices, a bar and entertainment – it will be a weekend to remember!

Bakewell Loop

8 - 9 July 2023

Join us for the full 100km challenge – setting out from Bakewell Showground where we have our basecamp for the weekend – on a figure of 8 loop taking you on an adventure north and south of the Peak District along trails and a route which will amaze you before coming back to our Basecamp in Bakewell. 

100 km & 2450 m

  • Start: Bakewell Showground
  • Start times: 06:45 – 07:00 for runners, 07:00 – 09:00 for joggers & runners
  • Finish: Bakewell Showground
  • Finish times: Runners 9 – 16 hrs, joggers 16 – 20 hrs, walkers 20 – 36 hrs

Every 10-15km under marquees with support – toilets, massage, changing rooms, medics, rest areas, hot drinks, water & snacks & much more. 

  • Snacks & drinks – every 10-15 km
  • 25 km – picnic lunch & fizzy drinks
  • 50 km – hot meal
  • 75 km – brunch/ lunch
  • 100 km – cooked breakfast/ BBQ
  • Finish – glass of fizz, medal & t-shirt

Full Challenge over 2 Days

Bakewell Loop

8 & 9 July 2023

The 2 Day Full 100km Challenge breaks down the route into two halves of 50 km on Day 1 starting & finishing at our basecamp in Bakewell, and then 50 km on Day 2 – you will get to experience the route in daylight as well as the opportunity to get some rest and sleep overnight. Camp with us at our fully supported Basecamp in Bakewell on the Saturday night where we will have entertainment, hot food & more.

The 1st Half Peak District loop will start and finish from our basecamp in Bakewell, the route is perhaps the toughest loop with steep ascents and descents taking you into the heart of this beautiful landscape.

Bakewell South Loop

If you are looking to support someone taking on the Full Challenge you can join them on the route from 5pm Saturday onwards, or take on the 2nd Half Challenge from 6 – 6.30am on Sunday for a scenic adventure along the southern sections of the trail on a looped route back to Bakewell.

The 1st Quarter of the Peak District Challenge will start from our basecamp in Bakewell – the route is a tough section with steep ascents and descents taking you into the heart of this beautiful landscape. 

25 km & 300 m

  • Start: Bakewell Showground
  • Start times: 06:45 – 07:00 for runners, 07:00 – 10:00 for joggers & runners
  • Finish: Tideswell
  • Finish times: Runners 2 – 3 hrs, joggers 3 – 5 hrs, walkers 4 – 7 hrs

Every 10-15km under marquees with support – toilets, massage, changing rooms, medics, rest areas, hot drinks, water & snacks & much more. 

  • Snacks & drinks – every 10-15 km
  • 25 km – BBQ lunch & fizzy drinks
  • Finish – glass of fizz, medal & t-shirt

There’s a full range of optional parking & pre or post Challenge shuttle bus transfer services, to make it easy to join & exit – and to provide flexible options for your planning. These include:

Take on our NEW 10 mile looped route starting & finishing at our Bakewell basecamp, taking in the best of the Derwent Valley Herritage Way along The River Derwent. up to Chatsworth  House. It is easy to join & leave with parking & overnight camping options available.
