From a Scarborough basecamp (with good train links) – 100 km of trails, stunning coastal scenery, and historic moorland lie ahead, with over 2,250m of climb – to take on at YOUR pace.There’s a 2 Day ‘Daylight’ 100 km option, with camping options at halfway close to Whitby Abbey – and for those who pace against the clock, there’s the new Ultra Trailblazerz® option for rapid runners, and Ultra March® for hasty hikers! With Half (~50km) & Quarter (~25km) distance options, and the Whitby 10 mile loop, there’s an Ultra Challenge® for you!

From our Scarborough basecamp (with camping options) – the route heads around the town & beaches, past the castle and then north along the Cleveland Way, with a stunning & historic coastline up through Robin Hood Bay and onwards to Whitby and our welcome halfway 50km rest stop, close to the Abbey. It’s then inland along the River Esk Valley before heading south into classic moorland scenery. On through Moors Park Forest – joining the Tabular Hills Walk back to Scarborough basecamp – the finish of an epic challenge!

For WALKERS looking to achieve a sub 24 hour total time for 100km. There’s a dedicated 8.30 am start time, and a separate category on the Registration Form – and join in with 250 or so other ‘Marchers’!
For 2026, there’s ULTRA TRAILBLAZERZ® for faster, competitive, runners with an eye on the clock and a ‘time goal’ of sub 14 hrs (male) & 15 hrs (female) for 100km on this Challenge. 6.45 am start.

Ultra Challenge® 50 km and 100 km events are fully ITRA-certified and officially recognised as UTMB Index races. ITRA points TBC (likely to be 4)

The 2 Day Full 100km Challenge breaks down the 100km Scarborough looped route into 2 halves – of ~50km on Saturday & again Sunday – so you get to experience this fantastic route, with its stunning coastal & moorland views, in ‘daylight’. You’ll also have the opportunity to get some well earned rest & sleep overnight at our optional halfway campsite close to Whitby Abbey – or a local B&B / hotel in Whitby. It’s a great way to take on an epic 100km challenge!
From our Scarborough basecamp (with camping options) – the route heads around the town & beaches, past the castle and then north along the Cleveland Way, with a stunning & historic coastline up through Robin Hood Bay and onwards past Whitby Abbey and on to our welcome finish-line, after a fabulous & unique 50km Ultra. After a well earned massage & finishers meal, you can either transfer back to Scarborough, camp with us in Whitby – or make your own arrangements.

A great option if you want to start in Whitby – maybe meet up with a friend taking on the Full Challenge on Saturday evening to finish with them. Alternatively, set off with most others on Saturday morning or early Sunday morning on your own fantastic challenge. A start close to Whitby Abbey, then inland along the River Esk Valley before heading south into classic moorland scenery. On through Moors Park Forest – joining the Tabular Hills Walk back to Scarborough basecamp – the finish of a fabulous challenge!

It’s then inland, around the north of the town and back to our basecamp and a lively finish & picnic lunch.
