Bookable extras are designed to make the planning for your challenge as easy as possible -providing options for your joining & leaving arrangements, and are summarised below. Scroll down for details & prices on each category, then click ‘BOOK NOW’ once you’re ready to make an online booking

optional Extras

CHALE – MAIN START VENUE (0 km) – Friday night before your challenge (generally suits Full 106 km, 1st Half, 1st Quarter Challengers).

Start venue is also the main finish – Saturday night is bookable for ‘fast finishers’ (runners / joggers) + may suit 4th Quarter Challengers (transfer to start early Sun am).

COWES HALF WAY VENUE (53 km) Saturday night – primarily for the ‘2 Day  Daylight Full 106 km’ option for overnight sleep / recovery – AND also works for ‘1st Half Finishers’ & for the early Sunday morning 2nd Half starters.

ALL-INCLUSIVE PACKAGES OR ‘PITCH ONLY’ OPTION (inc Camper Vans) ARE AVAILABLE

For any additional campers reserve a spot on an already booked Pitch ONLY/Campervan option on our campsite. (Please ensure when booking for extra campers you have already purchased a Pitch ONLY/Campervan space).

Parking for your vehicle is available at :

  • The Major Start / Finish Venues. This combined with the ‘before & after’ bus transfer options will enable you to join & leave the event ‘sensibly’.
  • Supporter Parking Pass – so friends / family can park at some ‘key’ venues along the route. 

Shuttle busses to help with your logistics:

  • Transfer to main start venues from Cowes ferry
  • Transfer from a finish venue back to the start so your car is with you ‘after’ you finish your challenge (ie – You park your car at your finish)
  • Transfers from a main start venue to the start of a ‘Quarter’ Challenge.

After your challenge:

  • Transfers from your finish to Cowes ferry
  • Transfers back to your start venue (where you may have initially parked your car)

Friday Night Dinner – available to book for anyone staying at Chale (basecamp) on Friday night.

Saturday Morning Breakfast – available to participants beginning their challenge on Saturday morning at Chale (basecamp). Breakfast the following morning is included in the camping package.

Sunday Morning Breakfast – available to participants beginning their challenge on Sunday morning at the IOW Showground (Cowes). Breakfast the following morning is included in the camping package.

NO NEED TO PRE BOOK – AND IS AVAILABLE ON THE DAY AT YOUR START (Pay cash or Card)

  • Have an overnight type bag transferred from your start to your finish (or store in Chale if on the Full Challenge)
  • Full 106 km Challengers – have your bag (or camping gear) transferred to the ~52 km Half Way and then on to the finish.

fERRY

A car ferry is available from Southampton to East Cowes, or a foot passenger ferry is available from Southampton to West Cowes.

A car ferry is available from Southampton to East Cowes, or a foot passenger ferry is available from Southampton to West Cowes.

If you are travelling by vehicle you must pre book your crossing to East Cowes. Select below to receive 15% off per vehicle.

Red Jet
If you are a foot passenger please show your Ultra Challenge e-ticket on the day to receive 15% off per person for your crossing to West Cowes. We advise you also book W Cowes > Chale per transfer to get you to your start.

The Red Funnel ferry (car only), will be leaving from Southampton and arriving at East Cowes.

Parking is available at the main venues. If you’re not doing the full Challenge (106 km) – check that our optional Shuttle Services also work for you.

All weekend at Chale (basecamp)

Friday 16:00 – 23:00 & Saturday 06:00 – Sunday 22:00

Ideal for challengers starting/finishing at Chale.

Saturday for the day at Nodewell Farm (The Needles 25km)

Saturday 07:00 – 19:00

Ideal for 1st Quarter Challengers.

All weekend at IOW Showground (Cowes)

Saturday 06:00 – Sunday 22:00

Supporters can book a pass for parking at Chale (basecamp), Nodewell Farm (The Needles), IOW Showground (Cowes),  & Culver Down.

Camping - Friday & Saturday

Camping available at our Chale basecamp for the Friday & /or Saturday night/s – with single & twin share options. 

Inclusive Packages – with pre pitched tent & mattress – (you bring sleeping bag & other equipment) & breakfast the following morning. Parking is included in your package.

Pitch Only Option – bring your own tent or campervan (+ all equipment) & breakfast the following morning. Parking is included in your Pitch/Campervan booking.

You will be able to add on extra campers to your Pitch ONLY/Campervan option under the same booking.

Hot showers, rest area, changing rooms, & hot drinks included. Use our optional Baggage Service to move your kit from the start.

Friday night – suitable for anyone starting in Chale. NOTE – if you want dinner on Friday evening (served between 6-9pm- this must also be booked as a separate ‘extra’.

Saturday night – for Full Continuous runners / joggers (likely to finish Sat eve). Do not book Saturday if you are  a 2 Day 100 km Challenger. 

Spacious 2-man tent & mattress – all set up and ready for you. You need to bring sleeping bag & other equipment.

Roomy 3-man tent & mattresses all set up and ready for you – plenty of space for 2 people and bags! 

Reserve a space for your tent or campervan. You’ll have access to hot showers, toilets & other facilities – and includes breakfast the following morning.

Reserve a spot on an already booked Pitch/Campervan on our campsite. (Please ensure when booking for extra campers you have already purchased a Pitch/Campervan space).

At the 53 km  ‘half way’ rest stop in Cowes on Saturday.

Inclusive Packages – with pre pitched tent & mattress – (you bring sleeping bag & other equipment) & breakfast the following morning. Parking is included in your package.

Pitch Only Option – bring your own tent or campervan (+ all equipment) & breakfast the following morning. Parking is included in your Pitch/Campervan booking.

Pre Challenge Transfers

We’ve a range of shuttle services to take you to your start line, before your challenge. Red Funnel – West Cowes is the closest ferry link to the Chale basecamp (it departs from Southampton).

Ideal for all challengers starting in Chale

From the West Cowes Ferry port to the main start line at Chale (basecamp). This service will run:

  • Friday – set departure time at 16:30 or set departure time at 19:00
  • Saturday – set departure time at 06:30 or set departure time at 07:30

Ideal for 1st Half Challengers

Park your car at the finish in Cowes & get a shuttle to your start line in Chale (basecamp). This service will run:

  • Saturday – set departure time at 06:00 or set departure time at 07:30

Ideal for 2nd Half Challengers

Park your car at the finish in Chale (basecamp) & get a shuttle to your start line in IOW Showground. This service will run:

  • Set departure time on Sunday at 05:00am

Ideal for 4th Quarter Challengers

Park your car at the finish in Chale (basecamp) & get a shuttle to your start line in Culver Down. This service will run:

  • Set departure time on Sunday at 08:00

Post Challenge Transfers

We’ve a range of shuttle services to take you where you need to go after your challenge.

Ideal for anyone finishing at Chale basecamp

To Red Funnel Ferry (West Cowes) and via IOW Showground- operating regular service, although there may up to an hour wait at quiet times. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 18:00 – last ferry
  • Sunday – 07:00 – 22:00

The journey to Isle of Wight Showground is approx. 30 minutes.

Ideal for 1st Half Challengers

From the finish line in Cowes back to Chale. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – Midday – 02:00

Ideal for anyone finishing at the IOW Showground (Cowes)

From the finish line in Cowes to the Red Funnel Ferry (West Cowes). This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 13:00 – last ferry
  • Sunday – Early morning shuttle/s (For campers at IOW Showground)

Ideal for 1st Quarter Challengers

From the finish line in Nodewell Farm (The Needles) back to Chale. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 11:00 – 19:00

Baggage Transfers

We’ve a range of services taking your bags forward for access during the challenge – for a change of clothes or shoes, extra layers for the night, or those snacks you can’t do without!

Please note the max weight limits – these are strict, and bags will be weighed. Quoted prices are per bag.

Baggage services will be paid in cash/card on the day – and you cannot pre book.

Ideal for all Full Challengers.

Store your bag safely at the start in Chale (basecamp).

Ideal for Full Challenge walkers & joggers. 

We will take your bag (max weight 20kg) from the start, to the half way stop (where you have access to it), and then back to the finish in Chale.

Ideal for all Half Challengers.

We will take your bag (max weight 20kg) from the start to your finish.

Ideal for all Quarter Challengers.

We will take your bag (max weight 20kg) from the start to your finish.

For all official Runners (ie  confirmed as a Runner on entry & dressed as such on the day) – our kit drop service will take a small (10kg max) bag forward for you to access:

  • Full Challenge runners – start > midway > finish
  • Half & Quarter Challenge runners – start > finish 

 

If you have a ‘heavy’ bag (or a 2nd bag) – this must be booked in and paid for via the other baggage service options.
