Bookable extras are designed to make the planning for your challenge as easy as possible, providing options for your joining & leaving arrangements, these are summarised below.

optional Extras

CHALE – MAIN START VENUE (0 km) – Friday before your challenge (generally suits Full 106 km, 3/4, 1st Half, 1st Quarter Challengers)

Chale start venue is also the main finish – Saturday night is bookable for ‘fast finishers’ (runners / joggers), ‘Cross Island’ challengers + may suit 4th Quarter Challengers (then transfer back to start early Sun am).

COWES HALF WAY VENUE (53 km) Friday or Saturday nightworks on Friday for ‘Cross Island’ before your challenge or on Saturday for the ‘2 Day  Daylight Full 106 km’ option for overnight sleep / recovery – AND also works for ‘1st Half Finishers’ & for the early Sunday morning 2nd Half starters.

ALL-INCLUSIVE PACKAGES OR ‘PITCH ONLY’ OPTION (inc Camper Vans) ARE AVAILABLE

For any additional campers reserve a spot on an already booked Pitch ONLY/Campervan option on our campsite. (Please ensure when booking for extra campers you have already purchased a Pitch ONLY/Campervan space). 

Parking for your vehicle is available at :

  • The Major Start / Finish Venues. This combined with the ‘before & after’ bus transfer options will enable you to join & leave the event ‘sensibly’.
  • Supporter Parking Pass – so friends / family can park/pick up/ drop off up to 2hrs at some ‘key’ venues along the route. 

Shuttle busses to help with your logistics:

  • Transfer to main start venues from Cowes ferry
  • Transfer from a finish venue back to the start so your car is with you ‘after’ you finish your challenge (ie – You park your car at your finish)
  • Transfers from a main start venue to the start of a ‘Quarter’ Challenge.

After your challenge:

  • Transfers from your finish to Cowes ferry
  • Transfers back to your start venue (where you may have initially parked your car)

Friday Night Dinner – available to book for anyone staying at Chale  (basecamp) on Friday night. Friday Night Dinner – is NOT available on Cowes.

Saturday Morning Breakfast – available to participants beginning their challenge on Saturday morning at Chale (basecamp) NOT  at Cowes. Breakfast the following morning is only included in Inclusive camping packages – if you are have booked Pitch only or Campervan you will need to book these separately. 

Sunday Morning Breakfast – available to participants beginning their challenge on Sunday morning at the IOW Showground (Cowes) & Chale. Breakfast the following morning is only included in Inclusive camping packages – if you are have booked Pitch only or Campervan you will need to book these separately. 

10 Mile Meal – If  you have taken part in the Medina 10 Mile there is an option to book a hot meal post challenge

NO NEED TO PRE BOOK – AND IS AVAILABLE ON THE DAY AT YOUR START (Pay cash or Card)

  • Have an overnight type bag transferred from your start to your finish (or store in Chale if on the Full Challenge)
  • Full 106 km Challengers & 3/4 Challengers – have your bag (or camping gear) transferred to the ~52 km Half Way and then on to the finish.

Family & friends can follow you every step of the way!

If you’d like family & friends to track your real time progress on your Ultra Challenge, then why not book a new Geo Tracker!  Pick it up at the start of the event – share the map with them – and then they’ll be able to see exactly where you are – day & night !

A car ferry is available from Southampton to East Cowes, or a foot passenger ferry is available from Southampton to West Cowes.

If you are travelling by vehicle you must pre book your crossing to East Cowes. Select below to receive 15% off per vehicle.

If you are a foot passenger please book your ferry in advance using the link below and benefit from the set fare. We advise you also book the West Cowes > Chale transfer to get you to your start.

Parking is available at the main venues. If you’re not doing the full Challenge (106 km) – check that our optional Shuttle Services also work for you.

All weekend at Chale (basecamp)

Friday 4pm – 11pm & Saturday 6am – Sunday 10pm

Ideal for challengers starting/finishing at Chale.

Saturday for the day at Nodewell Farm (The Needles 25km)

Saturday 7am – 7pm

Ideal for 1st Quarter Challengers.

All weekend at IOW Showground (Cowes)

Friday 4pm – Sunday 10pm

Ideal for challengers starting/finishing at the IOW Showground (Cowes).

Supporters can book a pass for parking at Chale (basecamp), Nodewell Farm (The Needles), IOW Showground (Cowes),  & Culver Down.

Camping - FRIDAY NIGHT

Chale or Cowes

Camping at Chale basecamp or the 53 km  ‘half way’ rest stop in Cowes on Friday.

Inclusive Packages – with pre pitched tent & roll mat – (you bring sleeping bag & other equipment). Parking & breakfast (breakfast not available at Cowes) the following morning is included in your package.

Pitch Only Option – bring your own tent or campervan (+ all equipment). Parking is included in your Pitch/Campervan booking. Breakfast the following morning is not included in your booking, this will need to be booked separately.

You will be able to add on extra campers to your Pitch ONLY/Campervan option under the same booking. Make sure you look for the Extra Campers’ option under the relevant day/location on the booking form.

Hot showers, rest area, changing rooms, & hot drinks included. Use our optional Baggage Service to move your kit from the start.

Chale Friday night – Ideal for the Full 106km, 2 Day 106 km, 3/4, 1st Half & 1st Quarter Challengers before your challenge. Friday night dinner also available to book.

Cowes Friday night – Ideal for the 2nd Half (for 10am starters on Sat), Cross Island & Medina 10 Mile Challengers before your challenge. There is NO Friday night dinner or Saturday morning breakfast available at Cowes.

NO DOGS – pets are strictly not permitted on any of our venues, including the campsite.

Spacious 2-man tent & roll mat all set up and ready for you. You need to bring sleeping bag & other equipment – Includes parking & breakfast (not at Cowes) the following morning.

Roomy 3-man tent & roll mats all set up and ready for you – plenty of space for 2 people and bags! – Includes parking & breakfast (not at Cowes)  the following morning.

Reserve a space for your tent. You’ll have access to hot showers, toilets & other facilities – includes parking. You will need to book breakfast the following morning separately (not available at Cowes).

Pitch Only Option – bring your own tent or campervan (+ all equipment). Parking is included in your Pitch/Campervan booking. NO breakfast is included in Pitch only packages this will need to be booked separately. 

If booking both Friday & Saturday night you will be able to book this via the form and a discount will be applied when booking.

You will be able to add on extra campers to your Pitch ONLY/Campervan option under the same booking. Make sure you look for the Extra Campers’ option under the relevant day/location on the booking form.

Friday night – suitable for anyone starting in Chale. NOTE – if you want dinner on Friday evening (served between 6-9pm – this must also be booked as a separate ‘extra’ on the booking form.

Saturday night – for Full Continuous runners / joggers (likely to finish Sat eve) not book Saturday if you are  a 2 Day 100 km Challenger.

Pre Challenge Transfers

We’ve a range of shuttle services to take you to your start line, before your challenge. Red Funnel – West Cowes is the closest ferry link to the Chale basecamp (it departs from Southampton).

Ideal for all challengers starting in Chale

From the West Cowes Ferry port to the main start line at Chale (basecamp). This service will run:

  • Friday – between 4.30pm – 7.30pm
  • Saturday – between 6am – 7.30am

Ideal for all challengers starting in Cowes

From the West Cowes Ferry port to the 50km start line at Cowes. This service will run:

  • Friday – between 4.30pm – 7.30pm
  • Saturday – between 6am – 7.30am

Ideal for 1st Half Challengers

Park your car at the finish in Cowes & get a shuttle to your start line in Chale (basecamp). This service will run:

  • Friday – between 4.45pm – 7.45pm
  • Saturday – between 6.15am – 7.45am

Ideal for Cross Island or 2nd Half Challengers

Park your car at the finish in Chale (basecamp) & get a shuttle to your start line in IOW Showground. This service will run:

  • Set departure time on Saturday one only at 9am or Sunday only once at 5am

Ideal for 4th Quarter Challengers

Park your car at the finish in Chale (basecamp) & get a shuttle to your start line in Culver Down. This service will run:

  • Set departure time on Sunday only once at 8am

Post Challenge Transfers

We’ve a range of shuttle services to take you where you need to go after your challenge.

Ideal for anyone finishing at Chale basecamp

To Red Funnel Ferry (West Cowes) and via IOW Showground- operating regular service, although there may up to an hour wait at quiet times. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 6pm – last ferry
  • Sunday – 7am – 10pm

The journey to Isle of Wight Showground is approx. 30 minutes.

Ideal for Cross Island & 1st Half Challengers

From the finish line in Cowes back to Chale. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 12pm (Midday) – 2am

Ideal for anyone finishing at the IOW Showground (Cowes)

From the finish line in Cowes to the Red Funnel Ferry (West Cowes). This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 1pm – last ferry
  • Sunday – Early morning shuttle (for campers at the IOW Showground)

Ideal for 1st Quarter Challengers

From the finish line in Nodewell Farm (The Needles) back to Chale. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 11am – 7pm

Ideal for 3/4 Challengers

From the finish line in Culver Down back to Chale. This service will run between the hours of:

  • Saturday – 10pm until Sunday – 10am

Baggage Transfers

We’ve a range of services taking your bags forward for access during the challenge – for a change of clothes or shoes, extra layers for the night, or those snacks you can’t do without!

Please note the max weight limits – these are strict, and bags will be weighed. Quoted prices are per bag.

Baggage services will be paid in cash/card on the day – and you cannot pre book.

Ideal for all Full Challengers.

Store your bag safely at the start in Chale (basecamp).

Ideal for Full Challenge & 3/4 walkers & joggers. 

We will take your bag (max weight 20kg) from the start in Chale, to the half way stop at the IOW Showground (where you have access to it), and then back to the finish in Chale/Culver Down.

Ideal for all Half Challengers.

We will take your bag (max weight 20kg) from your start to your finish.

Ideal for all Cross lsland & Quarter Challengers.

We will take your bag (max weight 20kg) from your start to your finish.

For all official Runners (ie  confirmed as a Runner on entry & dressed as such on the day) – our kit drop service will take a small (10kg max) bag forward for you to access:

  • Full Challenge runners – start > midway > finish
  • Half & Quarter Challenge runners – start > finish 

If you have a bag heavier than 10kg/2nd bag – please note the standard rates of our baggage service will apply.
