Challenging events at your pace, for all ages, fitness & experience levels. For teams of friends or colleagues & for individuals; for a charity of your choice, OR just do it for yourself and achieve something special! 

No obstacles or mud pools, just wonderful British countryside; full support all the way; lots of food & drink; camaraderie & friendship, a unique welcoming event atmosphere – and your spirit & determination. 

With 18 events; 25 km & 50 km choices; 100 km continuous challenges – or in ‘daylight’ over 2 days if you want to step up; a few trail marathons; and a dozen 10 km taster events. There’s an ULTRA MARCH® category for determined walkers – and NEW for 2026, ULTRA TRAILBLAZERZ™ for fast, competitive, runners.

YOUR CHALLENGE – YOUR WAY

Most walk, many jog; some will do both and see how it goes. At the front runners may be stepping up from a marathon, testing themselves against the clock, or just out for a great a trail run!

Ultra Challenges are for ALL. On our 50 & 100 km ‘Ultra’ distances, over 50% are female (2024), with all ages taking part and a wide range of experience & fitness levels.

If you aim to do a 100 km Ultra for the 1st time – there’s the ‘2 DAY DAYLIGHT’ option, with camping at half way.

There’s also the ULTRA MARCH® category for walkers with a goal of completing 100 km in less than 24 hours (or 50 km <12 hours).

NEW for 2026, there’s ULTRA TRAILBLAZERZ™ for faster, competitive, runners – against the clock

A continuous 100 km full Ultra Challenge is quite tough, but is absolutely achievable with good preparation, our support teams & rest stops stocked with plenty of food & drink and our ‘Trailmed’ medics.

OR – there’s a 2 day 100 km ‘Daylight’ option with halfway camping – as a great way to step up to a full Ultra – and ‘Push Yourself further’!

New to 2024 were ~75 km 3/4 Challenge options on some events if you want to step up from the 50 km!

There’s also a fantastic range of testing single day ~50 km ‘Half’ challenges, scenic ~25 km ‘Quarter’ challenges, a few trail marathons (42 km) – and a range of 10 km taster events.

Young Persons Discount available – if aged 21 or less (subject to min. age rules / distance).

We have a Series of a dozen or so 10 km /10 mile events throughout the season at the main Ultra Challenge venues.

Ideal as a taster event or if you just want a shorter challenge – or to take on whilst your friend or family member is taking on a longer Ultra Challenge.

10 KM / MILE SERIES >>

It only takes 2 to make a TEAM – but the more the merrier! A Team of friends or family can motivate & support each other, whilst sharing an unforgettable adventure with a great reason to celebrate! Teams can do the same or a mix of distances, and sign up with the same or a mix of funding options too.

INDIVIDUALS / SOLO CHALLENGERS will feel 100% welcome & safe and are guaranteed to meet many new friends enroute, and our experienced Support Teams looks after everyone! For 2025 there’s an optional ‘Solo Challenger Start Time’ slot to meet up with others.

Many choose to FUNDRAISE for a charity of their choice, and with 600+ to choose from you’ll be amazed how much you can raise on these tough challenges, as friends & family will recognise & support your courageous endeavours!

The Ultra Challenge® Series raises £10+ million / year for charities. Choose your charity; set up a JustGiving sponsorship page and make your challenge count!

Winter Walk

AUTUMN DEAL FREE BOBBLE HAT

Walk off the festive celebrations and kick start the New Year, or some early training for an Ultra Challenge! On Saturday or Sunday – choose your distance – wrap up – and walk with 2,000 or so others! You’ll get a winter neck buff, full support & hospitality – and an invigorating day out in the Capital!

A fantastic atmosphere as 2,000 or so walkers set out from the Oval Cricket Ground and take in some of the Capital’s key landmarks & historic sights. There’re rest stops en route with snacks & drinks – and a big welcome back at the Oval finish line with a medal and some hot food.  

  • 26 mile / 42km Marathon – figure of 8 route with start, finish & the half-way stop at the Oval Cricket Ground. Two rest stops en route also,  lunch at half way, and a hot finishers meal.
  • 13 mile / 21km Half Marathon – looped routes (East or West) starting & finishing at the Oval Cricket Ground. Rest stop en route &  hot finishers meal

THE BATH 50
Ultra Challenge®

A great opener to the Ultra Challenge season! Centred on this elegant historic city,  take on a 50 km Ultra, a testing 29 km, or a sharp 10 km challenge at your pace! From our Bath Racecourse basecamp 2000 adventurers will head out on looped routes around & through Bath – with fantastic panoramic views, past the famous Royal Crescent, along the River Avon and taking in many of the city’s sights & sounds and the surrounding countryside. You’ll get full support all the way, and a celebration finish back at basecamp. It’s a great way to kick off the season, and start to get in shape!

From the Racecourse basecamp the anticlockwise loop heads down to the City, past the famous Royal Crescent, and along the River Avon. The route join sections of the popular ‘Bath Circuit’ – with a lunch stop at Coombe Down, before re-joining the River Avon Trail to the east of the City. Heading north it joins Limestone Link and on into the countryside to pick up the famous Cotswold Way, and it’s around and back to the Racecourse where a loud cheer and a welcome celebration awaits.

  • 50 km Loop Challenge – from Racecourse basecamp. Walk, Jog, or Run

THE Windsor 50
Ultra Challenge®

Formerly 'The Easter 50'

The 2nd Ultra Challenge of the season – and a good one to take on after the Easter break! From the Windsor Racecourse basecamp, you can Walk, Jog or Run a looped route 50 km, 25 km, or 10 km through historic Windsor, along the Thames Path, and enjoy some wonderful surrounding countryside. You’ll get a neck buff & medal, hot food & drink at the finish – and it’s a great event to test those legs, and to get in shape!

Join us after Easter.  Windsor is the historic backdrop – and the Racecourse is our Challenge basecamp. You’ll head through the Great Park, with fantastic views of the Castle, along the famous Thames Path, and take in some wonderful surrounding countryside.  It’s easy to get to, there’s plenty of parking – a great atmosphere, and distance options to suit all.

  • 50 km (Figure of 8 – 2 loops) – through Windsor to a rest stop at Runnymede, and back via The Great Park for a picnic lunch. 2nd 25 km loop to Eton, taking in the Thames Path. Hot food at the finish.
  • 25 km (Loop) – through Windsor with a rest stop at Runnymede, and back via the Castle’s Great Park. Hot food at the finish.
  • 10 km (Loop) – around Windsor & castle area. Picnic at finish.
  • ULTRA MARCH® option for 50 km ‘hasty hikers’.
  • TRAILBLAZERZ® option for quicker / competitive 50 km runners.

Isle of Wight
Ultra Challenge®

The Island is easy to get to – with good transport links, and its’ coastal path is the setting for an unforgettable challenge which 2,000 or so adventurers will take on over the bank holiday weekend. From our Chale basecamp in the south, it’s clockwise to Cowes, and on through with the historic resorts in the south for the 106 km ‘full Island’ challenge. With 3/4. 1/2, & 1/4 half Island options also, a fantastic ‘Southern 50’ & ‘Medina 10 mile’ events, plus camping packages – there’s a fantastic active weekend challenge for all!

Our Chale basecamp in the south makes a perfect start / finish venue. The coastal path is one of the best – with amazing views, ups & downs, cliffs & sandy beaches, iconic Needles, Cowes with its famous marinas, and historic resort towns of Ventnor, Shanklin & Sandown. If you’ve not been to the Isle of Wight – you’ll love it – and with a fantastic Ultra Challenge to take on – it will be an unforgettable May bank holiday weekend!

  • Full Island106 km – as a full-on ‘continuous’ challenge ’round the island’ from the Chale basecamp. 
  • Full Island ‘Daylight’ – 106 km over 2 days with a Cowes half way + overnight  camping option or local B&B.
  • 3/4 Island option – continuous or over 2 days. Great event to up to if you’ve done a ‘half’ before
  • 1st Half – 52 km, Chale to Cowes, taking in the Needles & the spectacular southern cliffs.  
  • 2nd Half – 54 km, Cowes to Chale. Also Ideal if you want to join up with a Full Challenge friend.
  • Quarters – 1st (Sat) or 4th (Sun) if ~25 km is your thing – both options have great highlights!
  • Southern 50km Loop – 50 km, Chale to Chale. Explore the stunning southern corner of the island!

Jurassic Coast
Ultra Challenge®

Spectacular World Heritage coastline, and an amazing challenge with distance options for all! This is one of the best Ultra Challenges – a tough one – but the most popular, as there’re distance options to suit all!  From the Corfe Castle start, the main route heads down to Swanage, and along to Weymouth at half way for the 100 km full challenge, with lots of ups & downs – and then on to a welcome finish line celebration in the vibrant Dorset town of Bridport. With a full range of distance options – there’s challenge for all on the Jurassic Coast!

One of Britain’s stunning coastlines, and a fantastic setting for a challenge – with amazing views, a few steep hills, and varied landscape. A Corfe Castle start, down to Swanage and west to Lulworth Cove and Weymouth at the ‘half way’. Down to the iconic Durdle Door, along to Abbotsbury, on to Chesil Beach, over West Bay’s famous sandstone cliffs – and finally a welcome finish line in Bridport. Highlights all the way – and  distance choices to suit everyone! With camping options at the Corfe Castle & Weymouth – it will be an unforgettable Dorset Coast weekend.

Ultra Challenge®

A favourite route for vintage cars & cycles – and the original Ultra Challenge – now in its 13th year, with a varied 60% off-road route. A Richmond and on towards the North Downs and on through wonderful Surrey & Sussex countryside to Turners Hill at halfway (with optional camping). The Full 100 km challenge heads up & over the South Downs before the welcome sight of the Brighton coastline and the racecourse finish line. There’ re distance options to suit all!

Also: Sussex Marathon Option (Turners Hill to Brighton)

+ Brighton 25km loop (from the racecourse)

A lively start in Richmond – and then along the Thames to Kingston, and a picnic lunch near Sutton. On over the North Downs and through wonderful Surrey & Sussex countryside to the ‘half way’ point at Turners Hill. For full 100 km challengers – its more Sussex countryside and then up & over the steep South Downs with the Brighton coast then coming into view – followed by the final push towards a memorable Brighton Racecourse finish line.

Lake District
Ultra Challenge®

Take on & enjoy some of England’s finest countryside at your pace. From our convenient Kendal basecamp (with optional camping) the full 100 km route is an anticlockwise loop taking in a few tough hills & fells, Ambleside, Lake Windermere at half way (with hostel accommodation option) nature reserves, and forests  – with stunning views en-route – and distance options to suit all adventurers!

A World Heritage site – and world famous scenery, with fells, lakes, and forests – and all in all – the best of England! Kendal, on the edge of the National Park, makes a perfect start/finish base camp for an amazing challenge – with optional pre-event camping & half-way hostel accommodation by Windermere for ‘2 Day & Half’ challengers. There’s also a fantastic, scenic, 10km loop option from Ambleside – and  a Marathon distance also finishing in Ambleside.

Cotswold Way
Ultra Challenge®

A spectacular 100 km looped route from our new basecamp in Cirencester – the ‘capital’ of the Cotswolds – which takes in some fabulous scenery. Stunning views, idyllic villages, and rolling hills – it’s easy to access, plenty of parking, and there’s onsite pre-event University style accommodation at basecamp. A testing challenge, with some tough climbs in the first half –  and rewards with a real sense of achievement.

A looped route from our Cirencester basecamp with a some tough, including Coaley Peak with stunning views out to the west towards the Bristol Channel & Wales beyond. ‘Half way, of the full challenge, is Wotton-under-Edge – with camping options available. A great way to experience the best of the Cotswolds – and with optional University hall accommodation at the basecamp makes it better than ever!

  • Full Challenge – 100 km as a full-on ‘continuous’ challenge – Cirencester start & finish. Plus: Ultra March® Option (for fast walkers) & New Ultra Trailblazerz™ Option (for fast runners)

Ultra Challenge®

New For 2026

Scarborough Basecamp

Basecamp is in Scarborough – famous for its Fair, and a popular seaside spa since the 17th century. The route heads around the town & beaches, past the castle and then north along the Cleveland Way, with a stunning & historic coastline up through Robin Hood Bay and onwards to Whitby, of Captain Cook & Abbey fame, and our welcome halfway 50km stop. For full 100km challengers, it’s inland along the Esk Valley before heading south into classic moorland scenery. On through Moors Park Forest – joining the Tabular Hills Walk back to Scarborough basecamp, where a big celebration awaits at the finish of an epic challenge!

Our Scarborough basecamp makes a perfect start / finish venue with camping options. The coastal path is one of the best – with amazing views, ups & downs, and bays. Historic Whitby is the 50 km halfway point, and our rest stop is close to the famous Abbey – where we have overnight camping. The 2nd half is all about the ‘classic’ moorland scenery & landscapes – and a real contrast to the 1st 50km. If you’ve not been to this part of England  – you’ll love it – with a fantastic ‘summer solstice’ Ultra Challenge to take on!

A new Ultra Challenge for 2025, set in the  stunning Gower Peninsula  – the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and famous for its golden beaches, limestone cliffs, wild moors, ridges, and woodlands. The 100km challenge is a figure of 8 route made up of  west & east loops which take in the best of the Peninsula, its history, and its varied and unique landscape. Summer Walk

Explore the ‘gateway to London’ along the River Thames eastern section. Starting by Woolwich Royal Artillery Barracks, our Marathon looped route heads to Docklands and to the Olympic Park, through the City, along the Thames  along the Thames to Greenwich where it joins the 25km route.  Past the Cutty Sark, a rest stop at the Naval College, around the Greenwich Peninsula – past the O2, Old Royal Naval College, past Thames Barrier Park – and back to the Woolwich basecamp. A route steeped in history and capped with a BBQ & bar at the finish – and a great summer weekend adventure! 

A Marathon (42km), 25km, or 10km Walking Challenge  – taking in some of the Capital’s historic areas and sights in the eastern section of the River Thames. A great way to get active over a summer weekend and explore new parts of London – and to celebrate the end of summer with a BBQ and bar at the finish.

  • Marathon Challenge (42km loop) Heads through the Woolwich Tunnel, and along the ‘Capital Ring’ & ‘Greenway’ to the Olympic Park. It’s down to the Thames via the Lee Valley Walk to Limehouse, past The Tower of London and across The Thames over Tower Bridge. Back along the Thames – southside – all the way past the Cutty Sark and a rest stop at the Old Naval College. Then along the Thames to the Greenwich Peninsular, past the O2, past the Thames Barrier, through Charlton, and back up to basecamp in Woolwich, where a big cheer, medal, glass of fizz, T shirts and BBQ meal await!

Take on England’s greatest river with a ‘flat’ 100 km route heading out from Putney Bridge, past Hampton Court to Runnymede, of Magna Carta fame, at the 50 km half way. For the full challenge – it’s on to Windsor and then past wonderful historic scenery & countryside to Henley. With half & quarter distance options also, the Bridges Trek, the Moonlight 10 & Henley 10K – there’s a Thames Path Challenge for everyone and the most popular event of the season!

The Thames is steeped in history, and the route heads upstream to Henley taking in Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, Windsor, Eton, and some wonderful countryside along the way.

Zig Zag over the Thames

Venture across the Capital with unrivalled views of the skyline. Setting out from Putney Bridge – it’s East towards the City, zig-zagging over 16 of London’s historic bridges – each with its own fascinating story, and with a mid-point refreshment stop at The Oval for some snacks & drinks. 25km later it’s a finish line celebration & some food in Southwark Park, beyond the majestic Tower Bridge, where a big cheers, some fizz, a medal, food, & a celebration await!

Get Fit Friday & Fun

Kicks off the Thames Path Challenge festival of events on Friday evening. Take on a spirited 10km looped route through the heart of London as darkness falls, passing famous landmarks – including St Paul’s, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and more. A lively finish awaits – with some fizz, a ‘Moon medal’, some welcome hot food & drink. Perfect to join with friends after work for an active evening on the town!

The ‘Moonlight 10 Walk‘ is on Friday evening setting out from The Oval Cricket Ground. It will be a fun London evening along the Thames – and if you have the legs the local bar will be open afterwards.

Take on a Friday evening 10km looped walking route – starting at The Oval. Hot food afterwards. Perfect for some exercise + some fun – ideal for groups & teams.

An end of season Ultra Challenge®– in the ‘Garden of England’.  A basecamp near Maidstone, with parking & weekend camping options, the main 50km looped route heads anticlockwise around the Kent Downs – starting on the North Downs Way to Blue Bell Hill, around picturesque Aylesford, and following the River Medway to Mote Park at halfway for a picnic. Along the Len Valley Walk to the majestic Leeds Castle, then the North Downs Way back to the showground finish line and celebration. It’s easily accessible; you’ll get full support; and with 25km & 10km options also available,  there’s a Kent Downs Ultra Challenge® waiting for you!

From basecamp it’s anticlockwise around the Kent Downs.
